Overview
NavVis builds hardware for surveyors and field technicians who walk through buildings and capture them in full 3D, room by room and floor by floor.
I took on this brief by following a five-step approach: Mapping assumptions before touching solutions, reconstructing the workflow process, exploring trade offs and running a SWOT Analysis and delivering a phased 3-month release plan grounded in the reality of engineers.
Problem
The hardware was moving faster than the IVION software. The IVION software treated every floor as a completely isolated job, so a 10-floor building meant 10 separate waits and 10 manual stitching steps, every single time.
Impact

Quality output in a single review
Surveyors and field technicians often worked with large buildings up to 10-floor buildings. This previously required 10 singluar uploads and wait cycles were therefore reduced to one upload. This eliminated the repetitive task.
If each floor averaged 20–30 minutes of upload and manual stitching time, a single batched workflow saves operators 3–5 hours per building, per visit.
Instead of manually merging 10 separate datasets, operators now review one auto-combined model before delivery, cutting intervention from a hours-long task down to a single sign-off.

These aren't just pretty screens. Every project here started with a messy problem, a room full of stakeholders and not enough time. What you'll find is the work behind the work. The research that changed the brief, the data that killed the wrong feature, the design that shipped because I could defend every decision.
